Why I built Donkey

You’ve been using Obsidian and quite like it, yet there are three downsides. First, free AI features are inaccessible. Second, Obsidian is bloated and memory-intensive. Third, its plugins can’t be fully customized as you wish, since the software restricts permissions.

Donkey features a Rust-powered rewritten engine. It retains native Markdown support and backlinks, while enabling AI to operate directly via CLI and MCP.
